Learn to Bake with Us - in the Bakehouse

Spend a Sunday afternoon baking with us and go home with an armful of bread you made yourself, a stack of recipes to make more at home, and a live sourdough starter to keep you going. Once a month, we meet in the bakehouse and bake. Complete beginners are very welcome, as are people getting back to baking, refining what they are doing already, or figuring out where things might have gone wrong. Groups are small, no more than 6 people, so everyone gets their hands in the dough.

What You'll Experience

We bake sourdough, soda bread, yeast loaves, brioche and pastry. We can experiment with whatever you like. Focus on one thing or do it all. You bring home what you make, a stack of recipes to make more at home and a sourdough starter to keep you going. We'll also have lots of chat, tea and coffee and basically a good afternoon of working dough and making bread. Can be so therapeutic!!!

You can also get a tool to keep you going - a bench scraper, a Danish whisk or a scoring knife. They'll remind you to bake whenever you see them in your kitchen.

Course Details

Sunday afternoons 2-6pm in our Kilkenny bakehouse. We bake all afternoon and you take home what you made. We try and look at all sorts of baking: sourdough, yeast, soda, scones, treats etc. If you have a special interest we can also make that. The idea is that you get to bake and get familiar with how bread works. It's meant to be the start (or the rekindling) of your bread making journey!

2026 Dates

Select your preferred date above. We have courses running January through to November, with a break for July and December. There are also options for Rising Courses for anyone who has been with us before and wants to bake again and/or move on to more complex baking.

Private Groups

If you have a group of four or more people, we can add another date to suit you - Sundays or Mondays work best. Just message us.

Important Details

Courses run with at least four people, and to secure your spot, booking and payment is due in full two weeks in advance. Always good fun!
